Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani (Big Water) is a spot around Shillong where a massive hydro-electric dam has been constructed across the Umiam river stream. The confluence of the two streams Umkhrah and Umshvrpi form the Wah Ro-ro stream in the north-west of the town and joins River Umiam, the main source of water for the lake. Kayaking, Water cycling/ scooting and boating are a few of the facilities available at the Umiam Lake.
Umlawan Cave.. :- With Travel Themes you can get an opportunity to visit Umlawan Cave, which is in the Lumshnong Village, near Jowai. The Umlawan cave is inter¬connected with two other caves namely Kot-Sati and Umskor caves. The total length of these caves is more than 21 kms and about 100 m in depth. The best season to visit the cave is from November to June.
